2) copper Class B Victor's Award Medal - MS65 Brown. 41mm.
By Barre. Two admirable prize medals, one silver and one copper, both issued for the Zappas Olympics in 1875. The games represent an early revival of the ancient Olympic Games in the modern era, and were sponsored personally by Greek businessman Evangelis Zappas. The silver medal has been removed from a prior mount, with graphite accenting tones across the obverse periphery and the majority of the reverse face. The copper medal, displaying rich chocolate tone, reveals remarkable little handling or contact.
