JAPAN: Meiji, 1868-1912, silvered medal, year 40 (1907), similar to Zeno-204581, 53mm award medal from the National Goods Exhibition in Kyoto, traditional Japanese style building surrounded by trees with mountains in background, character for "award" above, "Kyoto" below // text above reads "The 4th National 5.2 Products Contest", date below, logo at center for the "5.2" society, an interesting and scarce medal, EF. The industrial and commercial organization 5.2 Society (Gonikai) was established in the end of 19th century. The name of this enterprise comprises the characters five and two, which stand for the main scope of business which initially was production and trade of five goods (textiles, ceramics, metal instruments, paper and miscellaneous goods), with two additional goods added later (sculpture and carpeting).
