BELGIAN CONGO: AE medal (126.8g), 1934, Vancraenbroeck 141, 71mm bronze medal for the 25th Anniversary of the Banque du Congo Belge by Armand Bonnetin, elephant walking left with BANQUE DU CONGO BELGE / BANK VAN BELGISCH / CONGO / 1909 * 1934 in exergue // native mother standing facing with head left and infant at her breast with large star in right field, J.FONSON stamped on edge, AU, ex Jerry D. Williams Collection. This medal was struck at both Philadelphia and Pretoria. The depiction of the elephant was later used on Belgian Congo coinage during World War II. Photo size reduced.
