WESTERN GANGAS: Anonymous, ca. 1100-1327, AV ¼ gajapati fanam (0.11g), Fr-290, elephant standing right // ornamental floral scroll, NGC graded AU58. The Gajapati pagodas and fanams were probably introduced about 1080 when Gangavadi emerged from Chola domination. Mitchiner states these anonymous issues were struck circa 1080 - 1138 and perhaps later. Friedberg lists these types as struck until 1327.
