STRAITS SETTLEMENTS: Victoria, 1837-1901, AE cent, 1845, KM-3, East India Company issue, EF. In 1830, the Straits Settlements became a residency, or subdivision, of the Bengal Presidency in British India. This status continued until it became a Crown colony on 1 April 1867.
