ALGARVE: Musa b. Muhammad, 1234-1262, AR square dirham (1.46g), NM, ND, A-I410, from the 1990s hoard, and one of the finest examples from that hoard, AU, RR, ex Jim Farr Collection. Always without mint name & undated. Ruler entitled amir al-gharb, "amir of the west", i.e., of the Portuguese district of Algarve ("al-gharb" on the coin). It is now presumed that the actual mint was located at Niebla (Labla in Arabic), near the city of Huelva in Spain, near the border with Portugal.
