CHILE. 8 Reales, 1790-So DA. Santiago Mint. Charles IV. NGC AU-53.
KM-39; FC-29; EL-40; Cal-Type-85 # 734. Mintage: 147,000. Three-year type. Another RARE transitional issue of Charles IV, also struck using the bust of Charles III. Pleasing quality, this example features a sharp strike with surfaces that are mostly pale silver in color, but showcase rich russet accents that cling to many of the raised designs. Likely struck towards the end of the obverse die's life, as several prominent bulges appear in the fields behind and in front of the central bust. As the finest of two graded by NGC, a coin that will almost certainly end up in a cabinet of noteworthy refinement.
From the Santa Fe Collection.
Estimate: $4000.00- $6000.00
