GERMANY. Bavaria. Medallic 3 Ducats, 1750. Maximilian III Joseph. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, EF Details Gold Shield.
10.43 gms. Wittelsbach-2013. By A. Schega. Obverse: Portrait of Maria Anna Karolina right, wearing widow's veil; Reverse: Lion stands upright, holding a shield with a portrait of a Palatine lion, palm tree to the right. Only the second example of this VERY RARE medallic issue that we have seen, the other first appearing in a Hess-Divo auction in 2010 where is brought 5,500 CHF hammer and again appearing in a Busso Peus auction in 2019 where is brought 6,000 EUR. This example, not as nice as that piece (we grade that piece AU - Scratched), displays what appears to be a blunt mark or marks over the central obverse surfaces that have slightly distorted the central design. Otherwise, the surfaces are actually quite nice, with no noteworthy marks and remnant luster around the legends. Despite the "Repaired" designation, we can find no evidence of intentional surface manipulation.

Estimate: $1500.00- $3000.00
