An unofficial strike to commemorate the coronation of Elizabeth II, this series was issued by Spink & Son in London, with this particular type being struck with 9 carat gold. The holder indicates a details grade due to surface plating, and the medal does exhibit a matte-like nature that lessens its true reflectivity. Nevertheless, it is a bold and well designed obverse bust, with finely detailed architecture, trees, and clouds on the reverse. Some very minor handling marks in the fields are noted merely for completeness.
