NEW ZEALAND. Crown, 1949. PCGS PROOF-66 Gold Shield.
KM-22. Mintage: Estimated 3. Struck to commemorate the proposed royal visit of King George VI to New Zealand. Tied with only one other example at this grade for finest certified at PCGS. An attractive and bright example that displays a thin veneer of tone destine for an advance collection of New Zealand, British Colonial or 20th Century rarities.

Though these were prepared and struck for the royal visit of King George VI, his trip was ultimately cancelled due to illness. To our knowledge the most recent public offering of such a piece in the same grade (PCGS PR 66) was in the Heritage NYINC 2015 Lot # 21254 where it hammered down at an impressive $18,000 (plus buyers premium).

From the Fenton Collection.

Estimate: $10000.00- $15000.00
