PHILIPPINES. Original MacArthur Peso Negative Plaster Mold, ND (ca. 1947). EXTREMELY FINE.
21 x 21 x 3. KM-185 (for coin type). White alabaster plaster mounted and framed. Retrograde uniformed bust of General Douglas MacArthur right, retrograde legend around "DEFENDER AND LIBERATOR" above, "OF THE PHILIPPINES" below, bust divides two-line retrograde inscription "GEN DOUGLAS MACARTHUR", below truncation "OCT 20 1944" in retrograde. Penciled in the top edge is "L.G.F. FINAL MOLD". Several fine cracks around the circumference and into the raised edge with a couple of minor edge repairs, but nothing overly distracting. A UNIQUE original negative plaster mold of the adopted design for the first Republican coinage of the Philippines. A neat item that when paired with the positive mold give some incite into the production process of how coins and medals are made.
Estimate: $2000.00- $3000.00
