SWITZERLAND. Geneva. Quadrupla or 4 Pistolets, 1637-PM. NGC VF Details--Ex Jewelry.
Fr-248; KM-39. Obverse: GENEVA CIVITAS, double eagle facing, with coat-of-arms on breast; crown above; Reverse: POST TENEBRAS LVX, IHS with combining omega above; all set on the center of a sunburst. An INCREDIBLY RARE example, this is the sole representative of the rather large denomination for the year, based upon this cataloger's research. Despite its evidence as a jewelry piece in the past--possibly aiding in its actual survival to this day--it nevertheless offers a momentous opportunity for a very brief and exceedingly difficult denomination from the mid-17th century.
Ex: Stack's (1/2008) Lot # 3382.
Estimate: $14000.00- $18000.00
