88mm. Barac-767. Eight-pointed silver star, 40 smaller rays within; white enameled central medallion, with red SS monogram at center and gilt motto "PRAEMIANDO INCITAT" around; all within green enameled ring with silver laurel branches. Hallmarks on back: <> 84 within oval; ИЛ within rectangle; ЭДУAPДЪ within rectangle. Attractive and highly pleasing. Compare to a similar example in our 2008 January auction (though that one was missing some letters), which realized a hammer of $4,500.
