Set of "12 Caesars" Bronze Medals (12 Pieces), ca. 1780. MINT STATE.
Includes Julius Caesar, Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero, Galba, Otho, Vitellius (2), Vespasian and Titus. This set of unsigned medals is thought to have been produced in Great Britain ca. 1780, and is housed in its original fitted maroon, wood, leather and velour case, which is functional but worn and missing one small side piece. The issue for Domitian is not present and, in its place, there is a second issue for Vitellius. All exhibit pleasing brown surfaces with some underlying luster and only light spotting on a few. A great ancient-themed grouping.
