CLAUDIUS, A.D. 41-54. Fourree Denarius (2.45 gms), Imitating Rome Mint, ca. A.D. 46-47, or slightly later. NEARLY EXTREMELY FINE.
cf. RIC-41 (for prototype); cf. RSC-87 (same). Obverse: Laureate head right; Reverse: S P Q R / P P / OB CS in three lines within oak wreath. An interesting and attractive imitation issue produced in Britain. Lightly toned, with some plating broken in a few spots exposing base metal inner core.
