MIXED LOTS. Duo of Touring Club Silver Prize Medals From Belgium and France (2 Pieces), ND (1890s). EXTREMELY FINE.
From Belgium a 29.2 x 59.4 mm rectangular 35 gram unmarked silver award plaque of the Belgian Touring Club, housed in its original fitted case. Awarded to Mr. Van Nuffel of Heynsbroeck. The french medal is round, 50.66 mm, and 65.5 gms. It features a semi-draped female measuring the distance between two points on a globe, with polar vignettes to her left, and desert scenes to her right. The reverse depicts a nude man within a wreath supporting a tablet inscribed TOURING-CLUB / DE FRANCE on his shoulders, and kneeling on a tablet inscribed with the recipient's name: MR DE LEOCOURT. The edge is lettered with a cornucopia and 1 ARGENT.
