BRAZIL. Brazil - Portugal - Portugal. 200 Reis, ND (1663). Alfonso VI. PCGS Genuine--Tooled, Fine Details; Countermark: VF Details.
KM-32; Gomez-A6.12.14. Issued by decree of 22 March 1663. Raised crowned 200 within shaped indent countermark applied to the reverse of an undated Lisbon mint, Portugal Tostao (100 Reis) of Philip III with previous Portugal 120 Reis countermark within shaped indent (by decree of 3 February 1642). The crowned 200 is slightly uneven missing a small portion of the crown, while the 120 is fully struck up and bold. Light scratches on the obverse and reverse from long ago where an attempt was made at removing some minor encrustation which accounts for the details designation. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of a crude issue displaying mottled light grey to slate patina.
Estimate: $150.00- $250.00
