KM-242; LDMB-P450; Gomes-JR.115.02; Prober-11B. Issued by decree of 1 September 1808 until 4 April 1810. Denominated arms of the Portugal bi-facial countermark applied to an 1807-PTS PJ Bolivia bust 8 Reales of Charles IIII (IV). Countermark well applied with good definition of the fine details showing that the denomination has been re-cut making for easy attribution of the variety. A handsome and original looking example with minor earthen deposits in the peripherals of the obverse and crevasses of the reverse. A wholesome and attractive example displaying nice mottled slate grey patina with highlights of russet and red iridescent sheen in the protected areas.
