PORTUGAL. 250 Reis, ND (1698). Pedro II. NGC VF-25; Countermark: EF Standard.
cf.KM-434.4; Gomes-101.02. Issued by decree of 14 June 1698. Bi-facial legend overstrike applied to an undated 200 Reis (1/2 Cruzado) of Lisbon mint of Afonso VI. It is interesting to note that the crowned 250 (2S0) Reis countermark (decree of 22 March 1663) appears to be applied over the legend overstrike. An interesting and richly toned example with lot of character certain to pique the interest of the specialist.
