BELGIUM. Bronze Architectural Cathedral Medals by J. & L. Wiener (8 Pieces), 1840-52. Grade Range: NEAR MINT to MINT.
All are 50 mm bronze editions, six from the original series of 10 Belgian churches by brothers Jacques and Leopold: Notre Dame A Anvers, Eglise Collegial de Bruxelles, Sts. Michel et Gudule (Bruxelles), Eglise St. Bavon A Gand, St. Jacques A Liege, and Notre Dame A Tongres. The remaining two by Jacques Wiener alone were not part of the original series, but are quite similar in style and feature the same intricate details of the previous medals: The first, of Notre Dame Cathedral of Tournay, displays an exterior view on the obverse, and a plan view of the cathedral on the reverse. The second medal is an award medal from Eglise St. Marie A Schaerbeek with a view of the church on the front and a closed oak wreath on the reverse. The center of the wreath, intended for an award inscription, is unengraved. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS.
