ITALY. Mostly Bronze Architectural/Cathedral Medals (7 Pieces). Grade Range: EXTREMELY FINE to NEAR MINT.
Five are from J. Wiener's Second series of significant European Edifices, all 59 mm and struck in bronze, produced in the 1850's and 1860's and portray various Italian Basilicas and Cathedrals. A sixth medal is a cast copy of the Duomo di Pisa medal - an original of which is also included in the previous 5 medals. The final piece is a medal much in the style of the others, but engraved by Italian sculptor F. Broggi. It is also struck in bronze - in a slightly smaller 47 mm size - and features the "Great Temple of Milan" (Duomo di Santa Maria Nascente). SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS.
