TURKEY. 1855 Krim (Crimea) Medal for Foreign Soldiers, this Variety for the Italian Troops. VERY FINE.
36.8 mm. Barac-46; MYB-120. Sultan's Toughra and Arabic date within wreath. Reverse: National flags of the victorious allies fly above a cannon, anchor and mortar now atop a trampled Russian banner. The inscription LA CRIMEA and the order of the flags on the reverse indicate that this medal was intended for a Savoyan (Italian) soldier. The black-bordered crimson ribbon is present, but tattered.
Estimate: $75.00- $150.00
