This unpublished contemporary imitation appears to be based on obverses of Commodus with the legend M COMM ANT P FEL AVG BRIT (cf. RIC 119 ff.), which was used from late AD 185, and a reverse type of Pertinax from AD 193 with the legend LAETITIA TEMPOR COS II (cf. RIC 4a).
