Kings of Skythia, Skiluros Æ21. Olbia, circa 130-125 BC. Head right, wearing tall crown and with long beard / [Bow in bowcase between ear of grain and club; BAΣIΛEΩΣ above, ΣKIΛOYPOY OΛBIO below]. SNG Stancomb -; SNG Moskau 2272; Frolova-Abramzon 2005, pl. 91, 12; HGC 3.2, 2044. 6.51g, 21mm.
Fine; heavily corroded, but reasonable portrait remains.

Located in Skythian Neapolis, the Mausoleum of Skiluros was excavated in 1945 by P. N. Schultz. Facial reconstruction using the supposed skull of Skiluros found during the dig resulted in a portrait of astonishing similarity to the clearly highly realistic renderings seen on his coinage.
