LOCAL ISSUES, Silk Road Region. 5th-8th centuries AD. AV Bracteate (22mm, 1.49 g, 12h). Imitating a Kushano-Sasanian issue of temp. Ardaxšīr (Ardashir) – Pērōz (Fīrūz) I (Circa AD 255-310), itself imitating an issue of the Kushan king Vasudeva I. OHOÞΔOHO down left, O OHOÞ down right, Vasudeva standing left, holding trident, sacrificing over altar to left; filleted trident to left; tamgha to right / Incuse of obverse. Cf. MK 641 (Vasudeva II; for type); ANS Kushan –; cf. Donum Burns 458 (Vasudeva I; for type); Zeno –. Lightly toned, slightly wavy, two holes for suspension. VF. Apparently unique and an item of cross-cultural interest.
