Armenia, Cilician Armenia. 'Levon the Usurper' AR Takvorin. AD 1363-1365. Levon on horseback right, holding sceptre with lis; annulet below horse / Lion walking right, cross and annulet above. Obverse legend is repeated on reverse. AC 486. 2.05g, 22mm, 2h.
Very Fine; areas of flatness, old cabinet tone. Rare variety of an ephemeral ruler.

Distinguished by the presence of one or more annulets in the fields, takvorins such as the present piece have been traditionally attributed to 'Levon the Usurper', though whether there was any such ruler in history is still a matter for discussion.
