RPC I p. 405, paragraph 2 'The coin with Messalina (= BMC 68 = Grant, Nero p. 219) is not authentic, it is just a coin of Nero which has been tooled...'; re-engraved obverse legend which originally was ΝΕΡΩΝ ΚΛΑΥΔΙΟC CΕΒΑ (= RPC 2382/4). 5.58g, 21mm, 1h.
