1872 Indian Chief Medal - Dominion of Canada - Indians of the North West Territories. This particular example also to be considered as quite scarce, on analysis shows to consist of approx 70%+ lead which would differentiate substantially from the few others known to exist and been transacted in the past 10 years. This issue is 94 mm in diamter, weighs 383,9 grams and 7mm in thickness. History indicates that only 25 pieces were produced as replacements for the original that were presented to the Chiefs of Treaties. This particular example has been tested and compared to others belonging those 25 issued and the analysis leads us to belienve that it is most likely a copy or counterfeit example. Should be considered as quite scarce and possibly unique for type as this was most likely the smallest production of all such "Indian Chief" presentation medals issued in North America.
