Theodore Comnenus-Ducas, as emperor of Thessalonica, 1225/7-1230. Aspron Trachy (Bronze, 29 mm, 3.61 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, circa 1227-1228. O[...] ΔH/MHT/PIOC St. Demetrius seated facing in military attire on backless throne, nimbate and beardless, holding hilt of his sword in his right hand and shaft across knees in his left. Rev. ΘЄOΔOROC Half-length figures of Theodore on the left, bearded, wearing crown with pendilia, divitision and loros, holding long cross in his right hand, and Virgin Mary on the right, nimbate, wearing pallium and maphorium; both holding long patriarchal cross between them; in upper left field, manus Dei. DOC 9. SB 2167. Rare. Flan crack, otherwise, very fine.
