ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. 'Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan, AH 65-86 / AD 685-705. Pashiz (Bronze, 16 mm, 0.57 g, 11 h), Anonymous Arab-Sasanian type, BYŠ (Bishapur), circa AH 71-91 = AD 690-710. Crowned and draped Sasanian-style bust to right; to left, GDH ('kingship' in Pahlawi); to right, 'ja'iz' ('current' in Kufic, written with dotted letters). Rev. Winged horse to right; to left, BYŠ (the mint abbreviation for Bishapur); in the outer margin, uncertain countermark (Hunnic?). Album S45. Gyselen 4. SICA I, -. Very rare. Light areas of weakness an with a small hole on the edge, otherwise, about very fine.
