The general Tahir I ibn al-Husayn revolted against the caliph al-Ma'mun and proclaimed himself ruler of Khorasan. However, he died a few hours after the proclamation (of poison?) and was succeeded by his son Talha ibn Tahir (AD 822-828). This type of dirhams was struck solely in AH 206, the year of the revolt.
