Theodosius I, 379-395. Siliqua (Silver, 17 mm, 2.08 g, 7 h), Constantinopolis, 392-395. D N THEODO-SIVS P F AVG Rosette-diademed, draped and cuirassed bust of Theodosius I to right. Rev. VOT / X / MVLT / XX in four lines within laurel wreath; in exergue, CONS. RIC -, cf. 87a (pearl-diademed). Apparently unpublished with rosette-diadem. Numerous old scratches on the diadem and the Vota, otherwise, about very fine.
From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s, and from the collection of Dr. F. Sternberg, Sternberg I, 30 November-1 December 1973, 511 (part of), (with original ticket).
The scratches on this coin have obviously been applied deliberately on Theodosius' diadem and on the imperial Vota, perhaps in a private act of damnatia memoriae.
