CELTIC, Lower Danube. Uncertain tribe. Circa 2nd-1st centuries BC. Drachm (Silver, 19 mm, 2.26 g, 11 h), imitating Alexander III or Philip III of Macedon. Celticized head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. Celticized Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, amphora. Lanz 897. OTA pl. 43, 578.3. An attractive and unsual issue. Crystallized and with faint scratches, otherwise, good very fine.
