KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 17.17 g, 2 h), Babylon, struck under Stamenes or Archon, circa 324/3. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; to left, grain ear; below throne, monogram above M. Price 3656. Beautifully toned. Light deposits, otherwise, good very fine.
