Guinea 1716 Fourth Laureate Head as S.3631 but with Hanoverian Shield at date, the shields and sceptres all rotated by 90 degrees clockwise. We offered the only other example of this extremely rare variety in our March 2017 auction LCA 156 Lot 2100 that example in an NGC holder and graded XF40 with a scratch across the chin realised £15,000 hammer. The piece offered here is of a grade, in our opinion, although raw, not too inconsistent with a US XF slabbed grade, being Fine or better for type with a minor edge fault
Estimate: 7500-15000 GBP
