Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales was the only child of George, Prince of Wales (later King George IV) and Caroline of Brunswick. She married Prince Leopold of Saxe-Coburg (1790–1865) on 2 May 1816. Had she outlived both her grandfather King George III and her father, she would have become Queen of the United Kingdom, but she died on the morning of 6 November 1817, aged 21, after giving birth to a stillborn son.
