The Pavilion Collection, Commemorative Medals, George IV, a small patinated bronze bust, early 1820s, after Sir Francis Chantrey, the shoulders loosely draped with toga fastened on his right, the head half-turned to his left, mounted on a stepped circular gilt bronze plinth, total height 153mm., the gilding on the plinth rubbed of its original brightness, but in excellent condition, a pleasing and scarce ornament

Ralph Holland was the last surviving member of a remarkable generation of British scholar-collectors that included Philip Pouncey, Sir Denis Mahon and John Gere. His superb collection of some 400 old master drawings was sold by Sotheby's, London, in July 2013.
