The European Magazine, and London Review, Volume 81 (1822), records under 'Provincial Occurences' that 'The Duke of Buckingham, as Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, has directed a silver coronation medal, to be presented to each officer, non-commissioned officer, and private, in the first regiment of Bucks. Yeomanry Cavalry, who attended the coronation'. The Buckinghamshire Yeomanry formed part of the Royal Escort and lined part of the Coronation route. According to the contemporary writer and numismatist, William Till, they were designed to be worn 'on grand field days and state occassions'.
