The Pavilion Collection, Commemorative Medals, George IV, Coronation 1821, small copper medal, unsigned, laureate bust r., rev. Imperial crown above a wreath of the national flowers, Hanoverian horse below, 30mm. (BHM.1105, R2), contained in copper shells, choice extremely fine and very rare
Bt. September 2003
The obverse of this small and rare medal has the hallmarks of being by Thomas Wyon Jr., reworked to show George as King, not Regent. Perhaps, as with BHM.1101, it was Benjamin Wyon (younger brother of Thomas Jr.), who finished the medal.
