bt. T. Millett, Art & Antiques Fair, London, June 2011
See note to previous lot. This portrait is usually found as a struck medal to commemorate the death of George IV with a legend reverse, in two lines encircling HIS REIGN BROUGHT VICTORY, PEACE AND CONCORD. Samuel Parker's name is linked to the large and impressive medallic portrait by Stothard which was published in 1827 (see lot 600below). It is, of course, possible that this piece was not issued until the occasion of the death of George IV.
