PENSE.., the original certificate pasted to the back of the frame, numbered '5' and signed 'Saml. Parker', slight damage to the Garter on the frame, the medal as made, mint state and extremely rare
*ex Peter Earthy Collection (private sale)
Issued in a strictly limited edition, each medal was individually numbered in the process of manufacture. This medal's early number (5) would suggest an original owner of some importance. Brown [BHM] does not give details of the certificate and the medal is listed as commemorative of the King's death, at which time it certainly seems it was re-issued. The present cataloguers feel that the information on the certificate is worthy of publication:-
