SELEUKID EMPIRE. Antiochos III 'the Great'. 222-187 BC. AR Tetradrachm (29.5mm, 17.05 g, 2h). Seleukeia on the Tigris mint. Struck circa 222-221 BC. Diademed head right (Type Aii) / Apollo Delphios, testing arrow and resting hand on grounded bow, seated left on omphalos; monograms to outer left and outer right. SC 1153 var. (control marks); HGC 9, 447mm. Some die rust on obverse, die shit on reverse. VF. Extremely rare, unpublished variety.

The portrait here, without the tiny horn-like lock above the ear, is most similar to that found on the tetradrachms of SC 1153. Also, the left field control is the same as SC 1153.2, while the right field monogram is a form of the left field monogram used on SC 1153.1.
