Commodus. AD 177-192. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.19 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 192. Laureate head right / PROVIDENTIAE AVG, Commodus (as Hercules) standing left, right foot on prow, holding club on tree trunk and holding thunderbolt, clasping right hands with Africa, who wears elephant-skin headdress, standing right, holding sistrum and grain ear. RIC III 259a; MIR 18, 861-4/30; RSC 643. Toned, area of roughness on obverse. VF.
