Edward IV, second reign (1471-83), Groats (8), types XIV-XXI, Tower (7), 2.76g, 8h, m.m. large annulet [55], crowned bust facing, in double tressure of 9 arches, trefoils on cusps, no marks by bust, rev. long cross and pellets, no stops (Blunt & Whitton XIV; N.1631; S.2096), good fine; another, as last, 2.44g, 1h, m.m. pellet-in-annulet [56], rev. saltire stops (Blunt & Whitton XVa; S.2096), cleaned, fair; also, 2.71g, 4h, m.m. pellet-in-annulet [56], similar, except roses by bust, rev. as first, no stops (Blunt & Whitton XVb; N.1631; S.2097), some creasing flatness, toned, fair to fine, rare; and, 2.84g, 2h, m.m. cross-and-four-pellets/cross, as first, rev. double and single saltire stops (Blunt & Whitton XVb/a; S.2096), creased, fair, a clear mintmark muling; another, 2.97g, 4h, m.m. pierced cross and pellet (in 4th quarter on obv. and 3rd quarter on rev.) [19], as first, except fleurs on cusps, no marks by bust, rev. rose stop after devm (Blunt & Whitton XVIIIb; N.1631; S.2098), toned, a pleasing coin, almost very fine; 2.94g, 2h, m.m. pierced cross and central pellet, as last (Blunt & Whitton XX; S.2098), toned, fine; 3.04g, 10h, m.m. heraldic cinquefoil [31], as previous, rose on breast, rev. stops as last (Blunt & Whitton XXI; N.1631; S.2100), toned, good fine; additionally, Bristol, 2.48g, 4h, m.m. sun [28]/large annulet [55], as London issue, trefoil on cusps, rev. vil|la b|ris|tow, no stops (Blunt & Whitton XIV; N.1632; S.2101), this fair, an interesting academic group comprehensively representing the key varieties of the Edwardian second reign Groat coinage, in variable grade from fair to almost very fine (8).
