Charles I (1625-49), Halfcrown, a contemporary forgery, struck in fine silver, in the style of Group IV, Tower, 11.24g, 7h, m.m. triangle-in-circle, [•](m.m.)[•] carolvs [•] dg • mag • brit • fran et • hib • rex, King on horseback left, holding sword, sash flying behind, rev. legend rotated to begin at 2 o'clock, •(m.m.)• christo • avspice • regno, ns with turned-out serifs, oval garnished shield (Brooker -; cf. S.2779), struck on a small flan, and of cruder workmanship, with some scuffs to horse, otherwise good fine, unusual.
