Charles I (1625-49), Shilling, a contemporary forgery from false dies, struck in fine silver, in the style of Group E, Tower, 4.02g, 12h, m.m. anchor (flukes to right on obv.), (m.m.) carolvs.' d g m br fr et hibi rex, crude portrait left, xii behind, rev. •(m.m. ~ flukes down)• christo • avspice • regno, the n reversed, square-topped shield over cross moline (cf. Sharp F4; Brooker 1202, same dies; cf. N.2228; cf. S.2798), same dies as last two lots, a smaller but toned flan, a really good fine, scarce.
