Charles I (1625-49), Shillings, contemporary forgeries from false dies, in silver-plated base alloys, Tower (3), in the style of Group E, 4.32g, 10h, m.m. tun, 'fifth' portrait left, large xii behind, rev. stop to left of m.m. (cf. Sharp F1; cf. Brooker 513-14; cf. N.2228; cf. S.2794); 2); another, in the style of Group F, type 4.4, 4.42g, 2h, m.m. sun/triangle-in-circle (cf. Sharp G1-2; cf. Brooker 561-63/549-50; cf. N.2231; cf. S.2800/2799); lastly, in the style of Group G, 4.39g, 7h, m.m. illegible (cf. Sharp H1; cf. Brooker 564-66; cf. S.2802), all with traces of silvering but copper cores largely or wholly exposed, generally fair to fine for strike, an interesting group (3).
