Purchased Bristol, 31 March 2009
,
First recorded by Potter, who acquired his example from the Raymond Carlyon-Britton cabinet. This coin subsequently sold at the Doubleday dispersal at Glendining in June 1972, wherein described as: "the only recorded specimen" (lot 397 - £60). A second example was recorded, from a different reverse die (note: reading posvi at another London saleroom in March 2003 (DNW, 19 March 2003, lot 555). This example, presumed to be a recent discovery when acquired by the present vendor back in March 2009, is therefore the third recorded example, and second known with the Potter die pairing.
Estimate: £70 - £100
