Commonwealth (1649-60), Halfcrown, a contemporary forgery from false dies, struck in debased silver, '1659', 10.77g, 12h, m.m. sun (in error on obv. only) (cf. ESC 60 [440]; cf. N.2722; cf. S.3215), a remarkable double-striking splaying the planchet broadly with some evidence of 'die-capping', otherwise evidently of baser fabric with verdigris in recesses, fair to fine, a very rare date, the official issue known from only 2 examples.
