From the Richard A. Jourdan Collection of Medieval European Coins, purchased from Andy Singer.

The carlino d'argento was introduced in 1303. 'It weighed 3.93g (3.65g fine silver), and had as types the seated figure of the king and a floriate cross with a lily in each quarter, whence its common name of gigliato or gillat. It was struck in enormous quantities under both Charles II and Robert the Wise. In 1330 Robert started to issue the denomination at Avignon in his capacity as count of Provenance, and the gigliato rapidly became one of the key denominations in Mediterranean commerce.' Grierson, pp.151-152.
